With the mention of yet another kiwi ‘jumping ship’, some memories glisten in the mind’s eye, vivid as the day they were made, and for me, one of the brightest is the time I decided to travel to Perth for the America’s Cup—the very first time New Zealand competed. It was more than a sporting event; it was a journey into the heart of what it means to be a Kiwi, and it filled me with a pride that still resonates. The excitement began even before we left home, as New Zealand buzzed with anticipation. The America’s Cup was a distant dream for so long, and now our team was finally lining up against the world’s best!

Peter Burling is moving his family to Italy to join Luna Rossa Team “I’m excited to announce I’ll be joining Luna Rossa for the 38th America’s Cup challenge,” Pete confirmed in a statement. And just like that, NZ loses another hero – but this time it feels different. Pete will always be connected to the land of the long white cloud. He still has Live Ocean with Co-CEO Blair Tuke, and he is the helm of the Black Foils – the Kiwi SailGP team. So, even though we won’t be seeing him in the traditional America’s Cup colours, we still get to hold onto him.

Recovered Bayesian to hit land today after being lifted over the weekend | |

The sinking of the Bayesian in August last year resulted in the death of Mike Lynch, the British tech entrepreneur, along with his 18-year-old daughter Hannah and five other people. The completion of the recovery operation will see the Bayesian being landed at the port of Termini Imerese in Sicily and placed in a specially built steel cradle. Once settled, the investigations into her loss will continue by Italian and UK marine authorities. The Italian investigation will include a full criminal enquiry.

Recipe of the Week:
Family Favourite - back by popular demand!
Cheese, chicken and broccoli pasta grill

- 250g penne
- 1 head broccoli, cut into florets
- 60g butter
2 T flour - pinch cayenne pepper
- 2c milk
- 200g cooked chicken, shredded
- ½c grated tasty cheese
- 1/3c grated parmesan
- ¼c fresh breadcrumbs

Cook penne in a large saucepan of boiling, salted water according to packet directions. Add broccoli for last 4 minutes of cooking. Drain. Melt half of butter in saucepan on med heat. Add flour & cayenne & cook, stirring, for 1" Whisk in milk and cook for 4", stirring, until starting to boil and sauce thickens. Combine penne, broccoli, white sauce, chicken and tasty cheese and season to taste. Spoon into a 10-cup ovenproof dish. Melt remaining butter and combine with parmesan and breadcrumbs. Sprinkle over pasta mixture. Place dish under a preheated hot grill for 2-3 minutes, until top is golden and crisp. Serve. Delissimo!
