Hello Sailors!

Several friends have recently been dealt a cruel blow with bad news on the health-front making them stop and take stock of what's important and what's not. A sad way to come to this realisation but one that has changed their lifestyles forever. One change is the ticking off of their bucket lists. Two have taken extended travel around the globe sampling each stop via Air BNB and another purchased a sailboat off-shore and is sailing the world.

Whatever's on your bucket list start the ticking now, before you're too old and it's too late to enjoy. Or if you haven't even got a bucket list - at least get one started. Meantime, have you had a health check recently??

Polar Code for cruising in the high latitudes

Thinking of sailing to the Arctic or Antarctic any time soon? Then you'll need to know about the 'Polar Code', developed for ships and yachts. The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has developed a draft mandatory 'International Code of Safety for Ships Operating in Polar Waters'. It is referred to as the Polar Code. The code covers the full range of design, construction, equipment, operational, training, search and rescue, and environmental protection matters relevant to ships and yachts operating in the remote waters surrounding the two poles.

Tourist Delivery (buying a new boat & having it delivered in Europe)

Many of our clients take the opportunity when buying a new boat to do what we call a 'Tourist Delivery’. One can collect their new boat at the commissioning port, avoiding immediate shipping and duty expenses and sail the Mediterranean and beyond. Some choose to spend a few years to sail home; some choose to winter the boat in the Med, return home for the summer and fly back to the boat again in the NZ winter. The options are endless; we can assist with cruising plans and support and when you're ready, we organise the shipping back to NZ.
